TMW - SSC Napoli back on the trail of Kean as the Azzurri rival Al-Qadsiah and United

SSC Napoli have renewed their pursuit of Moise Kean after hitting roadblocks in their attempts to land Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez and with a deal for Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca still unsigned. TMW understands that Antonio Conte’s side are keeping the 24-year-old striker on their shortlist as they look to bolster the forward line this summer.
Alongside the possibilities of staying with Fiorentina, accepting a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia with Al-Qadsiah, or crossing the Channel to Manchester United, the Partenopei have now emerged as a credible fourth option for the Italy international.
Clause kicks in – Fiorentina braced for a tense fortnight
Think of a Sergio Leone shoot-out and you get the picture: for Fiorentina, the next two weeks promise plenty of nerves and cold sweats. Under the terms of the contract Kean signed a year ago, any club that arrives at Viola Park between Tuesday and 15 July with €52 million in hand can leapfrog the Viola hierarchy and negotiate directly with the Vercelli-born striker.
Twelve months ago that buy-out fee looked steep for a forward who had failed to score all season. After a renaissance that yielded 28 goals in all competitions, including for the national team, and a runner-up finish in the Serie A scoring charts behind Mateo Retegui, the figure now feels like a bargain.
Fiorentina's resolve will be tested; Napoli, United and suitors further afield are circling, and the clock is already ticking.
