Frosinone set €25m price for Ghedjemis as forward targets European football
Fares Ghedjemis has emerged as one of Frosinone's standout performers in the early stages of the season, and the forward has made it clear that only the prospect of playing European football would tempt him to leave.
“The summer transfer window? That's in the past. I had my ambitions, but I spoke to the club and they presented their new ambition of becoming an important club. I'm happy to have stayed and signed a contract extension. Now I want to do well.”
It is difficult to argue with Ghedjemis, who has been among Frosinone's best players so far this campaign.
Goals were perhaps the one thing missing from his performances, but that has begun to change in recent weeks. Frosinone now have an attack capable of scoring from a variety of positions, with Ghedjemis, Raimondo and Kvernadze all contributing, alongside Calò.
European football the key to Ghedjemis' future
Monaco made an approach for Ghedjemis during the summer, but ultimately failed to meet Frosinone's financial demands.
The Italian club now value the forward at €25m.
A move to Monaco appears particularly unlikely given the French club's approach to the previous transfer window. Despite raising €80m through player sales, they chose not to invest that money in Ghedjemis or pursue other deals of that kind.
It suggests their reluctance was not simply a question of available funds, but also of transfer strategy. Ghedjemis would consider leaving Frosinone only for a club competing in European competition.
His preference would be to remain in Italy, although a move abroad cannot be ruled out. And if the forward maintains his impressive form, interest from clubs across Europe is only likely to grow.
