Manchester City financial scandal: Hart hits back at Keane over medals row
The recent ruling finding Manchester City guilty of multiple breaches of Premier League financial regulations has cast a shadow over the club’s past achievements. The breaches took place between 2009 and 2018, a period of considerable domestic success for the Etihad club.
During those nine years, City won three Premier League titles, three League Cups, one FA Cup and one Community Shield.
As a result, former players from that era have found themselves under intense media scrutiny. Manchester United legend Roy Keane recently sparked a heated debate by suggesting that the stars of City’s golden generation should “throw their Premier League medals in the bin” following the regulators’ decisions.
Joe Hart, who made 348 appearances for City and won five major trophies during the period under investigation, has firmly rejected the former Republic of Ireland midfielder’s remarks.
Speaking to Sky Vegas, Hart made it clear that he has no intention of getting rid of his medals. “Good for him. Well, you can broadcast this response if you want, because he is saying exactly what people would want him to say. But he is not in this situation, he has never been in this situation, so it is very easy to say things like that. I, on the other hand, am in it, and I certainly do not see it that way at all.”
