Ryanair mocks Juventus as ‘the new Tottenham’. Fans hit back: ‘They blew up like your windows’ Ryanair’s official Italian account on X has once again taken aim at Italian football. This time, Juventus were the target following their defeat by Lazio, with the airline’s account - which has a relatively modest following of around 27,000 - poking fun at the club.

“The new Tottenham”

The post was brief: “Juventus are the new Tottenham”. The comparison was prompted by Juventus’ choice of a photograph of Randal Kolo Muani, himself a former Spurs player, to accompany the announcement of their 3-0 defeat by Lazio. In England, Tottenham have become synonymous with failing to win silverware despite their long history, although their record bears little comparison with Juve’s.

Fans hit back

As often happens, supporters rushed to defend their club. “And you’re the new Titanic,” wrote one user. Another added: “Four likes, you’re more finished than we are.” A further reply read: “Six likes in an hour and a half. How about focusing just on flights and leaving Twitter alone? Instead of doing both and doing them both badly.” Another user joked about a recent incident: “Yesterday they blew up like your windows.” On 10 July 2026, Ryanair flight FR1879, a Boeing 737 travelling from Thessaloniki to Memmingen, made an emergency return after a blade in its right engine failed, with fragments shattering a window in row 11.
