Barcelona, Balde wants to stay but club open door to exit as Flick demands clarity

Alejandro Balde wants to stay at Barcelona and fight for his place, but the final decision will not rest with him alone. The full-back has made it clear to the club that he wants to continue at the Camp Nou and compete for a starting spot, yet his situation has become one of the most delicate issues in Barcelona’s transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the player’s stance is clear: Balde is not pushing to leave. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is nevertheless assessing whether an alternative solution could emerge, but only if a major offer arrives from a top club.

In Spain, AS adds that Barcelona have already held talks with the player’s entourage, making it clear that they would be prepared to consider a sale if a suitable offer is made. The Catalan club need financial room to complete further incoming business, and Balde’s departure could help fund part of their market. Among the names being monitored by the club’s hierarchy is Gonçalo Inácio of Sporting CP, a centre-back who can also operate on the left side of defence.

Flick asks for clarity
The situation has also become more complicated from a sporting perspective. Balde was left out of the squad for the match against Elche and, according to AS, Hansi Flick asked him to clarify his thoughts on his future. Sources close to the player, however, are sending a different message: Balde is said to be disappointed by the uncertainty around him, but still wants to remain at Barcelona and prove he can be important.

For now, then, the player’s intention is not to move. But if a significant offer arrives before the transfer window closes, it will be up to Barcelona to decide whether to keep their full-back or open the door to a departure.
