Genoa’s prized asset De Winter draws Inter’s gaze, three Premier League clubs also in the hun

Koni De Winter has emerged as one of the headline attractions of Genoa’s summer shop window. The Belgian centre-back, still only 22, first arrived in Liguria on loan in 2023 and was bought outright from Juventus last summer. He responded with an impressive campaign: 25 Serie A appearances, three goals and , after shaking off an early-season muscle injury , proof that he is among the division’s most exciting young defenders.
Bologna’s interest cools… for now
Bologna were the first to make a serious enquiry as they searched for a replacement for Sam Beukema, but financial considerations steered them towards Sparta Prague’s Martin Vitík. Whether the Rossoblù return will depend on Jhon Lucumí, whose €28 million release clause expires on 10 July.
Inter keep a watching brief
Inter, though, have never lost sight of their former Juve prospect , and would owe the Bianconeri a sell-on cut. With question marks hanging over Benjamin Pavard, Yann Bisseck and even the veteran Francesco Acerbi, the Nerazzurri could overhaul their back line as well as midfield. Sources at Viale della Liberazione say contact with Genoa has been renewed in recent hours, they also admire Morten Frendrup , but no formal bid has landed yet.
Premier League trio circle
Genoa value De Winter at €25 million, a fee that has not gone unnoticed in England. Tottenham Hotspur are keen, especially if Cristian Romero departs amid interest from Atlético and Real Madrid. AFC Bournemouth have also run the rule over the Belgian, while Crystal Palace were the first to move decisively before being caught in the fallout from the John Textor saga.
With Serie A suitors lying in wait and three Premier League clubs gathering pace, Genoa’s crown jewel looks set to headline the next transfer tug-of-war.
