Antonio Rüdiger will remain at Real Madrid for another season, as confirmed by the club, ensuring one of the dressing room and defensive leaders stays at the Santiago Bernabéu until the summer of 2027. The German centre-back has decided to extend his deal after several months of negotiations, with an exciting factor entering the picture in the final stages: the chance to work under José Mourinho.

“It is a dream to work with him,” Rüdiger told DAZN after Germany’s World Cup opener against Curaçao.

Rüdiger is particularly fired up by this new chapter with Los Blancos and believes the arrival of the Portuguese coach will provide major motivation ahead of next season. Talks between the parties had been ongoing for months, although the former AS Roma defender’s injury temporarily slowed negotiations. Once he returned to action and proved fully fit, the deal reached a positive conclusion.

The formal renewal offer arrived in March and, after several months of dialogue in a climate of complete harmony, the two parties reached an agreement in May to extend the relationship by a further season. From the outset, club and player shared the desire to continue together.

Rüdiger is now focused on the World Cup with Germany, which remains his sole priority before returning to Madrid to work under the Special One.
