Ruben Amorim is the new head coach of AC Milan. According to the latest information gathered by TMW, the Portuguese coach, formerly of Sporting CP and Manchester United, has just signed the contract that will tie him to the Rossoneri as they begin the post-Massimiliano Allegri era, bringing an end to a search that had lasted several weeks.

As reported in recent hours, Amorim has signed a two-year deal worth €3.2m net per season, plus potential bonuses linked to the team’s results. The contract runs until 2028 and also includes an option for a third season, held by the Milan hierarchy and potentially exercisable in the coming campaigns.

One small detail: Amorim’s contract was signed remotely, as the Portuguese coach was not physically in Italy. It cannot be ruled out, however, that he will travel to Milan in the coming days to meet the club and begin planning for next season.

It is a hugely significant first piece of business for Milan following the overhaul demanded by Gerry Cardinale at the end of the campaign. The RedBird owner, together with Zlatan Ibrahimović, must now urgently address the executive structure after the departures of Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada.
