Italian coach set for PAOK job as Greek club step up push for Alessio Lisci
Italian coach Alessio Lisci is ready to restart his career in Greece, with PAOK. Nothing has been made official yet, but the Thessaloniki club have now made the former Osasuna manager their preferred choice for the dugout.
In recent hours, another name appeared to be leading the race: Bosnian coach Marino Pušić. He remains under contract with Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates, however, and has now slipped behind Lisci, who is firmly in pole position.
Lisci is therefore expected to replace Răzvan Lucescu on the PAOK bench, after the son of former coach Mircea Lucescu was officially relieved of his duties by the Greek club in the past few hours.
Despite holding an Italian passport, Lisci has never worked in Italian football as a head coach, having only spent time as a fitness coach at SS Lazio. As a manager, he came through the ranks at Levante UD, progressing from the youth sector to the first team, before remaining in Spain for spells with CD Mirandés and Osasuna.
Now, Greece looks set to be his next stop.
