Marseille seal two signings for the future as 2008-born Lung and Malanda arrive
Olympique Marseille continue to invest in youth and plan for the future, adding two new players who will initially join the reserve side. The French club have confirmed the arrivals of Sacha Lung and Jephthe Malanda, both born in 2008 and both regarded as highly promising prospects.
Lung is an 18-year-old centre-back and a France Under-18 international who has signed a contract until 2029. Developed in RC Strasbourg’s academy, which he joined in 2015, he completed his footballing education with the Alsatian club before deciding not to accept their contract offer and instead continue his career in Marseille.
At the same time, OM have also announced the signing of striker Jephthe Malanda. Born in Évry-Courcouronnes, the young centre-forward arrives from Lille OSC, where he played for the club’s Under-17s, Under-19s and National 3 side. He has signed a three-year deal.
In an official statement, Marseille underlined that both players will strengthen the reserve team, confirming the club’s intention to keep building a pipeline of talent for the future.
While the first-team business is still to come, OM have already begun laying the foundations for the development of their youth set-up.
