Diomandé wants PSG move but RB Leipzig's demands remain major stumbling block
Paris Saint-Germain remain Yan Diomandé's preferred destination, but a deal with RB Leipzig is still far from being agreed. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast forward, who scored 13 goals and registered 10 assists in 36 appearances last season, is one of Europe's most highly rated young talents.
According to Bild, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City are all monitoring the teenager, but PSG currently lead the race thanks to the player's desire to make the move. Diomandé is understood to have already reached an agreement in principle with the French champions on a contract running until 2031.
Leipzig standing firm
The main obstacle remains RB Leipzig. Sporting director Marcel Schäfer recently underlined the club's position. "Our intention is clear: Yan Diomandé will play for RB Leipzig next season as well. We know his value. If he continues to develop, the time will come for him to take the next step, but not this year."
Despite that public stance, Bild reports that Leipzig could be prepared to negotiate under very specific conditions.
The Bundesliga club would only consider selling Diomandé for a fee of around €120m, while insisting that he immediately returns to Leipzig on loan for the remainder of the season.
That is a structure Paris Saint-Germain are not expected to accept. Luis Enrique wants the player available straight away and is not prepared to sanction a deal that would see Diomandé remain in Germany for another year.
