From Ac Milan’s €30m interest to As Roma: could this finally be the summer Armando Broja lands in Italy?

Armando Broja’s name has been drifting around Serie A circles for several seasons now. It was back in 2022 when AC Milan first tried to make a serious move for a player who, at the time, was one of several promising forwards on Chelsea’s books.

There was plenty of potential, even if the goals had yet to arrive in significant numbers. That did not stop Chelsea from setting a very high asking price.

Milan appeared willing to go close to €30m for the 2001-born striker, but the London club never showed any real appetite for a discount: €40m, take it or leave it. At that point, the Rossoneri’s interest faded, held back by the financial constraints of the time, which made that level of spending impossible.

AS Roma also tried, in 2023, but once again the cost of the deal and the proposed formula proved insurmountable obstacles.

Since then, the Albania centre-forward’s career has produced more setbacks than breakthroughs. Unsuccessful loan spells at Fulham and Everton were followed by a permanent move to Burnley, with whom he suffered relegation this season.

His contribution? One goal in 24 league appearances. Objectively, not enough.

That is why, given both his numbers and Burnley’s relegation, Broja could now leave England at a cut-price fee - or at least for a figure far below the levels being discussed three or four years ago.

The latest trail leads to Cagliari Calcio, while Udinese Calcio and Parma Calcio have also shown interest in his profile in recent weeks.
