NATIONS - Holland, Hateboer not in first pre-selection of Louis van Gaal
Bad news for Hans Hateboer (27): the defender of Atalanta Bergamo is probably seriously injured. The right back has been out of training this week with a foot injury. For that reason, Louis van Gaal cannot include him in his first pre-selection of the Dutch national team.
That is what La Gazzetta dello Sport writes about the Dutchman. Hateboer had to stop training because of a very painful foot, although the seriousness of the injury has yet to be determined. The very strong expectation is that he will be out for about two months, possibly even three if the injury is disappointing.
The Italian media are even talking about the fact that Atalanta Bergamo may have to find a replacement for Hateboer in the transfer market. Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta would be on the list of the Serie A club, which in any case will have to start the season without the Dutchman.
Hateboer had to miss the European Championship with the Dutch national team last summer because of an injury. The right back then struggled with a broken metatarsal bone: it is still unclear whether his new injury has something to do with it. So far he has played eleven official international matches for the Dutch national team.
