On Friday, a fire broke out inside Andorra's main football stadium, a day before the country was set to play England in a World Cup qualifier.

According to accounts, firemen extinguished the flames minutes later, and no one was injured.

It's still uncertain if the match versus England on Saturday night will take place as scheduled.

"A small fire that has broken out at the National Stadium this Friday afternoon has been extinguished," confirmed the Andorran government on Twitter.

The fire broke out in the center of one side of the Estadi Nacional, leaving a huge black scar on the ground.

A metal structure was harmed, and a tiny portion of the plastic pitch was burnt as well.

Plumes of black smoke had rushed up and behind the stadium, impacting part of the nearby block of flats on that side.

Initially, sprinklers were utilized to put out the fire until firemen arrived. There were also police officers on the scene.

On Friday afternoon, England practiced at the 3,300-seater stadium ahead of their Group I match against Andorra, who are ranked 156th in the world.
