This Sunday at 5:30 p.m., Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City will meet for their Premier League season opener. The one on whom all eyes are currently on, however, will not be involved: Harry Kane.

Tottenham coach Nuno Espírito Santo has deleted his willing captain from the matchday squad. The reason according to 'The Athletic': Lack of fitness. Kane had only joined the team a few days after the start of training. Whether intended as a strike or not - the procedure obviously did not serve physical performance.

But of course the Spurs also know that their top star against the club that Kane would like to sign is even more in the public eye than already. Does that also play a role? One can accept it. Either way, Tottenham seems to be stubborn in the tussle for the 28-year-old.

Exchange veto is available

As Telegraph and Times report in unison, club boss Daniel Levy wants to give a Kane transfer to City the final rejection. Apart from the sporting quality of their captain, it is now, a good two weeks before the end of the transfer period, too late for the Londoners to make a deal and sign a successor.

According to media reports, City can now do nothing even with a bid in the area of around 190 million euros. The most recent offer of the rich Manchester club is a rumored 150 million euros.
