PREMIER - Palace players Riedewald and Andersen on differences between Dutch and English football grooming

Interviewed on Crystal Palace official media, 25-year old Dutch defensive all-rounder Jairo Riedewald stated:
“It is different if you look at the way we’re brought up in Holland. I’ve spoken to a few youngsters about academies in England, in France, in Italy. I think in Holland the way they play is just different. It’s more football on the ground, more boxes in possession.
"But I think the physicality in England is just unmatchable. I think you can’t find the physicality and toughness there is in this league. It’s about a combination of both". New signing Joachim Andersen, who spent four years at FC Twente, comes across as we speak and reveals how his time in the Netherlands developed his ability to play the ball out from the back.
In Holland, everything is with the ball,” Andersen explains. “All training sessions are with the ball, all running and physical work is with the ball. They really like going into the detail and precision of playing out from the back, midfielders wanting the ball. There’s a lot of possession games. You really learn how to use the ball and you become good with the ball.”
