Boateng found guilty of beating his ex-girlfriend and fined €1.8 million.

After being found guilty of abusing his former partner three years ago, Germany's 2014 World Cup champion Jerome Boateng was fined 1.8 million euros ($2 million) by a Munich court on Thursday.
Boateng was convicted of intentional bodily injury and insulting his former lover, Sherin Senler, and received a hefty punishment from the Munich regional court.
Boateng rushed out of the courthouse, accompanied by security, and sped away in a black SUV, chased by cameras, after judge Kai Dingerdissen delivered his decision.
Boateng, 33, who left Bayern Munich for Lyon last week after a decade, assaulted the mother of his twin kids while on vacation in the Caribbean in 2018.
The event occurred shortly after Germany's elimination from the World Cup in Russia, when Boateng was a member of the side that was eliminated in the group stage.
Tensions were believed to be high between the ex-couple, who clashed over living conditions as Boateng pursued a high-profile transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, which never materialized.
