TOP STORIES - EURO 2028: UEFA opens bid for hosting

On Tuesday, UEFA began the search for a host for the 2028 European Championships in football, with a final selection expected in September 2023.

National football federations have until March 2022 to express their interest, and combined applications from neighboring nations are encouraged.

Any contender must have a "minimum of one stadium, ideally two stadiums, with at least 50,000 net seating capacity" and seven more with a capacity of about 30-40,000, according to UEFA.

Euro 2028 will be held over 51 matches and will feature 24 nations, similar to last year's postponed Euro 2020, which was won by Italy.
