In the wake of RB Leipzig national cup win over Babelsberg, by a 1-0 final outcome, marked by resident playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai, German giants boss Jesse Marsch stated:

"Last week, we suffered a narrow defeat to PSG with Messi and Mbappe, this week we won by a narrow margin against a fourth-tier Regionalliga side – that’s football! It wasn't an easy game for us. We were in control and could have calmed the game down with another goal or two. We were lacking that little bit in front of goal. We’re happy to have advanced to the next round of a competition that means a lot to us.

The first half was tight. We tried to change our system for the second half. My compliments go to SV Babelsberg - they never gave up and were prepared to take risks. That kept the game exciting until the end. I was really enthusiastic about the atmosphere here in Babelsberg. The home fans as well as the RBL fans - I think these experiences that we can create in football are brilliant.

Hugo Novoa played really, really well today. He understood his role, and was good out of possession and was one of our best performers overall
".
