LIGA - Report: Barca technical secretary Ramon Planes ask to step down
According to Diario Sport, Ramon Planes has requested to leave Barcelona. Despite recently renewing for two more seasons under Joan Laporta, the Catalan club's current technical secretary is alleged to believe he has fulfilled his cycle at the club and wants to go on to new challenges.
Josep Maria Bartomeu appointed Planes after Robert Fernandez departed the club. Initially working alongside Eric Abidal, he remained with the club when Abidal left and was instrumental in the recruitment of Ronald Koeman. Laporta was impressed by his work and maintained him after he had already gained substantial experience with Alaves, Espanyol, Elche, Rayo Vallecano, and Getafe.
Planes informed the club of his decision in the last few hours, knowing that the selection of Xavi as the new coach means Barcelona would have to make significant decisions in the coming weeks.
