NATIONS - Zlatan Ibrahimovic back with Sweden, Andersson explains

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been called up to the Swedish national team despite his injury. National coach Janne Andersson is not yet counting on him to be able to use him as a basic player, but stated that he is important enough to be called up anyway. During the upcoming international break, Ibrahimovic will play together again with AZ attacker Jesper Karlsson, who is also in the selection.
Of course, a fit Ibrahimovic is a crucial player for Sweden, but in recent months he has struggled with several injuries. For example, he missed the European Championship. This month, the striker spent half an hour at his club AC Milan, in which he scored, but then got injured again. Still, Andersson chose to call him up for the international matches on October 9 and 12, against Kosovo and Greece respectively.
"I have decided to call him up because I think he can make his contribution," Andersson explained at a press conference. "He is recovering from an injury, but is getting better every day. We will receive him here next week." That also applies to AZ left winger Karlsson, who will also meet teammates Pantelis Hatzidiakos and Vangelis Pavlidis in the match against Greece.
