NATIONS - Austria, Arnautovic disqualified for insulting an opponent

Marko Arnautovic will miss the Netherlands-Austria scheduled for tomorrow evening following the insults pronounced against an opponent during the match against North Macedonia on 13 June.

The attacker, after the goal of the final 3-1, had let himself go to a blatant outlet, directing the offenses to Ezgjan Alioski, a footballer of Albanian origin:

"I f *** your mother" are the words he would have pronounced, letting himself also go to phrases and gestures reminiscent of those of some anti-Albanian extremist groups.

The following day an apology came from the attacker, who stated that he was not a racist. He apologized that evidently were not enough for the Federation of North Macedonia which asked for an exemplary sanction. UEFA, after opening an investigation, has ruled that the player will only have to miss one match.
