SASSUOLO, De Zerbi confirms his departure at the end of the season

Talking to Sky Sport after the win against Parma (3-1), Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi confirms his departure from Neroverdi at the end of the season: “After Genova match i communicated to the club my choice to go away because I think I have reached my maximum. Maybe if another coach came here, he could do better. After three years of my management, I think we have reached the climax. We’re in eighth place and we can reach the seventh, witch would mean to overtake a battleship. I don’t think I could give more than that. I started considering other teams when I made this assessment”.

About the match, De Zerbi said: “We had a great match against a still alive team, which proved it both today and in previous matches. We wanted to win with more goals because we still believe in the seventh place and in the event of an equal finish Roma would be rewarded by goal difference. We respect everyone and I have beaten negative records in Serie A, with Benevento and Palermo, I know what it means to be relegated. It was right that we too fought for our goal, looking for a few more goals”.
