AC Milan, Trabzonspor move for Bennacer: offer made as midfielder takes time to decide

It’s been a hectic few days in AC Milan’s transfer dealings. After completing the signing of forward Christopher Nkunku, the Rossoneri are also working to trim the wage bill by offloading players who no longer fit into Massimiliano Allegri’s plans. Among those is Ismael Bennacer, who returned to Via Aldo Rossi in June after a loan spell at Marseille but is still searching for a new club.

A breakthrough could now come in the final stretch of the transfer window. According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Turkish side Trabzonspor have emerged as serious suitors, having already put forward an offer for the Franco-Algerian midfielder. Bennacer is said to be taking time to weigh up the proposal before deciding whether to make the move.

In recent days there had even been talk of a shock reintegration into the squad to cover for Ardon Jashari, who suffered a fractured fibula in training and will be sidelined for a couple of months. However, Milan still consider Bennacer surplus to requirements and, should the right bid arrive, are prepared to let him go – potentially diving back into the market in search of a late replacement.
