The Portuguese was eager to leave a wounded Juventus and it wasn't long before he found a club to bounce back from. And he was announced very close to Manchester City, before the Red Devils were finally able to win the day.
And it all happened… in Gary Lineker's garden! The legend of English football and FC Barcelona indeed revealed in the Match Of The Day podcast that the MU boss was in his backyard when it all happened.
“I'll put the cards on the table. Ed Woodward is a good friend and he lives right next to me. He signed Cristiano Ronaldo when he was in my garden! When he got home he was on the phone with Jorge Mendes. I hope not to say too much."
