LIGUE 1 – Messi criticised in the French media after substitution row

Although Paris Saint-Germain clinched a winner at the death against Lyon, much of the post-match talk revolved around Messi being substituted in the 75th minute by Mauricio Pochettino.

With 15 minutes to go, he was replaced with Achraf Hakimi when the score was still 1-1.

French outlet Le Parisien headlined: “His time in Paris will be more complicated than expected. Messi is withering, dropping his head lower and lower, he walks and no longer impacts the game."

It was just his first ever home game in the Parisien colours at the Parc des Princes.
