AS Roma step up search for right-back as Celik exit puts El Ouahdi on radar
Roma continue to explore the market for reinforcements at right-back following Zeki Celik's permanent move to Juventus.
The Giallorossi are assessing several options, and one of the latest names under consideration is KRC Genk defender Zakaria El Ouahdi.
Why Roma like El Ouahdi
The 24-year-old is highly regarded for his versatility. Naturally a right-sided midfielder, he is equally comfortable at right-back, making him an attractive option for a variety of tactical systems. His energy, attacking intent and ability to cover the entire flank are among the qualities that have caught Roma's attention as they look to strengthen the position.
According to reports in Italy, Genk value El Ouahdi at around €15m, with that figure expected to form the basis of any negotiations. At this stage, however, no advanced talks have taken place. The Moroccan is simply one of several players Roma are monitoring as they continue their search for a replacement for Çelik.
It remains to be seen whether the Giallorossi will make a concrete move in the coming weeks or whether interest from other clubs will spark competition for his signature. Either way, strengthening the right side of the defence remains one of Roma's priorities for the remainder of the summer transfer window.
