“Olise’s obsession with Real Madrid”: L’Équipe claims winger is pushing for move
“Olise’s obsession with Real Madrid” is the headline carried by L’Équipe, which reports that the France international is pushing to leave Bayern Munich despite being under contract until 2029. The Spanish club have had Michael Olise at the top of their transfer list for several months and see him as one of their main targets for next season.
L’Équipe’s version of events
According to the French newspaper, the 25-year-old attacker told his France team-mates during the World Cup that he wanted to leave Germany and join Real Madrid. He is also understood to have spoken in detail with those in the squad already playing for the Spanish club, including Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni, asking them about the situation at the Bernabéu after a difficult season.
By contrast, Dayot Upamecano, his Bayern team-mate, is said to have tried to persuade the attacking midfielder to stay in Munich. Olise, however, appears unmoved and determined to leave after just two seasons.
That version of events runs counter to the one reported by Sky Deutschland, which claimed the player had told Bayern he wanted to stay.
Real Madrid’s position
In recent weeks, Florentino Pérez is said to have spoken to Bayern president Herbert Hainer during a university graduation ceremony and told him: “In the end, you will have to sell me Olise.”
Real Madrid would be prepared to offer up to €150m for the France international.
