AS Roma turn to Godts as Summerville deal proves difficult

Mika Godts is moving up Roma’s list of attacking targets. The Belgian has emerged as an alternative to Crysencio Summerville for the attacking midfield role, with the Dutchman still the Giallorossi’s first choice.

Roma are ready to offer €40m, bonuses included, for Summerville. According to Corriere dello Sport, however, the stumbling block is the player’s wage demands, which range from €6m to €7m a season.

Godts, the younger and cheaper alternative to Summerville

As a result, sporting director Tony D’Amico is looking at other options - and Mika Godts of Ajax is one of the names to have emerged.

The transfer fee would be similar, but Godts’ salary would be far more manageable than Summerville’s. He is also four years younger and is viewed as having significant room for further development.

Last season, Godts made 44 appearances, scoring 17 goals and providing 15 assists.
