Juventus still pushing for Dibu Martínez but study alternatives as Trubin admired and Jorgensen offered

With the World Cup now over and football’s leading stars set to return from their holidays, the hottest month of the transfer window is about to begin. Juventus know that well. The Bianconeri had been waiting for Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez to finish his international commitments before launching their move for a new goalkeeper ahead of next season.

There is little doubt now that the Argentina international is Juventus’ No 1 target. He is understood to have already reached a verbal agreement with the club on a three-year contract worth €5m a season. Convincing Aston Villa, however, will not be easy. The Premier League club are still holding out for €10m, a figure considered too high by Giovanni Carnevali and his team given that Martínez is close to turning 34 and is approaching the end of his contract. Talks between the two clubs are continuing, and Juventus remain confident they can get the deal done. Villa, for their part, already have an agreement in principle with Parma for Zion Suzuki, but the wait cannot go on indefinitely. The coming days could prove decisive.

The alternatives
That is why Juventus are also looking around and preparing fallback options in case the move for Martínez collapses. According to Tuttosport, Guglielmo Vicario, who could leave Tottenham Hotspur, remains a name to keep in mind. There are also possible market opportunities. Filip Jorgensen, who is expected to leave Chelsea, has been offered to the Bianconeri, while Anatoliy Trubin of Benfica is another goalkeeper Juventus admire.
