Chelsea lead race for Alajbegović as Atalanta face uphill battle
Chelsea have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Kerim Alajbegović, dealing a significant blow to Atalanta's hopes of landing the highly rated Bosnia attacking midfielder. According to The Telegraph, the Blues are prepared to meet Bayer Leverkusen's €30m asking price, putting them firmly in pole position to complete the deal.
Atalanta reluctant to meet Leverkusen's valuation
As previously reported, Atalanta's latest offer stands at around €26m, including bonuses, leaving the Serie A club short of Leverkusen's valuation.
Unless La Dea improve their bid, a deal appears increasingly unlikely. The Bergamo club have therefore begun exploring alternative targets, with Zuriko Davitashvili, the Georgian winger currently at Saint-Étienne, among the players under consideration.
Roma remain interested
Roma are also keeping a close eye on Alajbegović's situation and could revive their interest after missing out on Crysencio Summerville. With Chelsea now leading the race, however, competition for the Bosnia international is expected to intensify, making a move to Serie A increasingly difficult.
