MLS - Seattle Sounders hire Juarez as assistant coach
The Seattle Sounders announced on Wednesday that Freddy Juarez has been appointed as an assistant coach under head coach Brian Schmetzer.
Juarez resigned as Real Salt Lake's head coach in the middle of the season to explore a "new opportunity."
Following the departures of coaches Gonzalo Pineda and Djimi Traore, Seattle sought to reinforce their coaching staff.
“I am very pleased to add a coach of Freddy’s caliber to our staff. I respect the job he did as head coach at Real Salt Lake, and his eye for the game will be a tremendous asset for our team,” Schmetzer said in Wednesday's release. “When considering candidates to bring into our coaches room, there were certain characteristics I was looking for: humble, hard-working, honest, loyal to the club. I believe Freddy checks every box and I am looking forward to bringing him on board.”
