A source told MLSsoccer.com that Chicago Fire FC is in talks to appoint Columbus Crew assistant coach Ezra Hendrickson as their new head coach.

Patrick McCraney of SB Nation's Hot Time In Old Town broke the story first on Wednesday evening.

While the contract hasn't been finalized, a source said it's looking like the 49-year-old will take over Chicago after a long absence from the league. He's worked as an assistant with the LA Galaxy, Seattle Sounders, and Crew, and has worked with well-known coaches such as Sigi Schmid, Brian Schmezter, and Caleb Porter.

Hendrickson previously led the Sounders' reserve squad from 2015 to 2017, in addition to his tenure as an MLS assistant. In Seattle, he was a member of Porter's MLS Cup-winning team in 2020, as well as one that won the Supporters' Shield (2014) and four Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup titles (2009-11, 2014).
