LIGA - Post Messi Era: First El Clasico of the season confirmed
The date and time for the season's first El Clasico have been set. On October 24th, Real Madrid will travel to Catalonia to face Barcelona in La Liga, with a kick-off time of 16:15 CET. The match will be held at Camp Nou.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have had contrasting openings to the season. The former is in trouble; they are now ranked ninth in La Liga and are in the midst of a period of intense stress, with president Joan Laporta and coach Ronald Koeman at odds. The latter is in fine form, sitting atop the standings after winning their first Champions League game of the season away at Inter.
Last season, neither won La Liga; Madrid finished second, two points behind Atletico Madrid, while Barcelona finished third, five points behind Madrid. Last season, Barcelona fell 3-1 at Camp Nou and 2-1 in the Santiago Bernabeu to Real Madrid. They'll attempt to correct the record.
