Atlético Madrid, mutual satisfaction with Raspadori: January exit looks unlikely
A return to Italy for Giacomo Raspadori is far from straightforward, quite the opposite. In recent hours, Atlético Madrid have reiterated their satisfaction with the Italian forward. Two goals and three assists in 406 minutes may not be enough to fully showcase his qualities, but his output has pleased Diego Pablo Simeone, particularly because of his versatility.
Competition for places is fierce in Atlético’s attack: the untouchable Julián Álvarez, then Sørloth, Griezmann and Thiago Almada, with Nico González on the left and the rapid rise of Giuliano Simeone on the right.
All of which makes a January move for Raspadori increasingly complicated. Not least because, for now, the player himself is content with life in Madrid, aware that he is part of a side competing on all fronts, from the league, despite sitting nine points off the top, to a Champions League campaign that could yet deliver. As things stand, the idea is to change very little in the winter window.
As Roma continue to keep tabs on Raspadori, but any deal would not be a loan with an option to buy. If Atlético were ever to consider letting him go, something currently ruled out, they would want a straight sale to generate funds for a replacement.
