Álvaro Rodríguez lined up as Dallinga’s heir as Bologna target Real Madrid youngster
On the transfer front, Bologna FC 1909 continue to keep a close eye on their attacking department, assessing potential alternatives in case some of their forwards move on.
Valencia CF remain interested in Thijs Dallinga, while Santiago Castro continues to attract attention from several clubs in both the Premier League - including Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Crystal Palace - and Serie A, where he is admired by Juventus FC, AC Milan and AS Roma.
For that reason, Bologna’s hierarchy, led by Giovanni Sartori and Marco Di Vaio, are exploring a number of options so they are not caught unprepared. Reports from Spain confirm their interest in Álvaro Rodríguez, the 2004-born striker owned by Real Madrid.
The young centre-forward, naturally left-footed, is coming off a positive season with Elche CF, where he made his mark despite his age, registering seven goals and five assists. Bologna will therefore have to contend with significant competition.
Several major clubs have already made moves for the Uruguay Under-20 international, who also holds a Spanish passport, including Celtic FC, AFC Ajax, Feyenoord and AFC Bournemouth.
The Real Madrid striker is not the only name on Bologna’s shortlist. Kevin Rodríguez of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Levante UD forward Carlos Espí also remain under observation.
