FC Barcelona are stepping up their push for Hamza Abdelkarim. The Catalan club are pressing to seal a deal that would bring the 2008-born forward from Al Ahly SC to Barcelona, initially linking up with Barça Atlètic, after improving the terms of their proposal to convince the Egyptian giants.

In particular, the sell-on clause has been increased from 10% to 15%  a detail that could prove decisive. Al Ahly’s technical committee is set to meet in the coming hours under the chairmanship of president Mahmoud El Khatib, and the signals emerging are encouraging. The prevailing view is that the Cairo-based club are inclined to accept Barcelona’s offer, now considered close to their valuation.

According to Mundo Deportivo, there is confidence inside Barcelona that this could be the final bid. Abdelkarim, who will turn 18 on 1 January, would then have the chance to sign his first European contract and move immediately to Catalonia. It would be a significant addition for Barça Atlètic, particularly given their attacking absences, with both Víctor Barberá and Òscar Gistau sidelined by long-term injuries.

A left-footed centre-forward, Abdelkarim caught the eye on the international stage at the Under-17 World Cup, drawing the attention of a number of European scouts. In recent hours, however, the young Egyptian endured a brief scare: in the latest Egyptian Cup tie against Al Mokawloon Al Arab SC, he was forced off early after suffering a heavy knock to the ankle. There is no major concern over his condition, but it will continue to be monitored.
