Not just Hugo: AC Milan tracking another Souza: Kauã Prates also on the radar in Brazil
AC Milan are not only targeting ready-made players on the transfer market. Their recruitment strategy also extends to raw, high-potential profiles, and a couple of them could arrive from South America – specifically from Brazil, a country the Rossoneri have often tapped into, both in the recent past and further back.
According to today’s La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are at least two young Brazilian players being closely monitored by AC Milan, both operating at left-back. The first is João Victor de Souza Menezes (19), better known simply as Souza, who is on the books at Santos and under contract until 31 December 2028. The second is an even younger prospect, Kauã Prates de Almeida (17), commonly referred to as Kauã Prates, who plays for Cruzeiro and is tied down until the end of 2027.
Another Brazil-based name frequently linked with Milan in recent weeks is goalkeeper Hugo Souza (26) of Corinthians, a link largely driven by the uncertainty surrounding Mike Maignan’s contract renewal. However, Hugo is not currently viewed as a priority or first-choice option by the club hierarchy at Via Aldo Rossi.
