TOP STORIES - Macron to play in charity match alongside Arsène Wenger
According to RMC Sport, French President Emmanuel Macron will start in midfield against a team of medical personnel from the Poissy Saint-Germain-en-Laye hospital on Thursday.
As part of the Pièces Jaunes initiative, the money from the match will be used to improve hospitalization conditions for young people in France.
Macron starts in the middle of the field with manager Rudi Garcia and Alain Giresse, a former Bordeaux icon. Former French women's international Laure Boulleau will play left-back with Arsène Wenger and Marcel Desailly in the centre-back partnership.
Sonny Anderson, a former Monaco and Lyon attacker, begins up front. On the bench are Sidney Govou, Robert Pirès, and tennis player Richard Gasquet.
According to RMC Sport, the president has indicated a wish to play the whole 90-minute contest, which must be allowed by his security team.
