BUNDESLIGA - Club Brugge's Kossounou to Bayer a 'done deal'
According to Belgian journalist Tomas Taecke, the transfer of Club Brugge defender Odilon Kossounou to German club Bayer Leverkusen is practically a done deal.
In a tweet, Taecke reported that Bayer will pay Brugge almost 30M Euros for the player, a record amount for Brugge. The Ivorian had been linked to several Premier League clubs in the past few months, namely Wolverhampton, Brighton and Southampton. Apparently, Leverkusen was able to thwart their efforts in pursuit of the player and have now secured the player from Brugge.
Last season he appeared in 28 games and scored one goal across all competitions, as the Belgian club comfortably won the league with the best defense in the competition, and Kossounou is a big part of the reason why. We'll see if he's able to replicate that success in one of Europe's top-5 leagues, where the competition level is much higher.
