Galatasaray plot ambitious move for Manchester City’s Phil Foden
Galatasaray are preparing an ambitious move for Phil Foden. According to journalist Pablo Oliveira, club president Dursun Özbek has instructed adviser George Gardi to open negotiations with Manchester City over the England international.
Club gives green light for talks
It would be a remarkable signing for the Turkish champions, who already have players such as Leroy Sané and Victor Osimhen in their squad. Gardi is understood to have been given permission to hold talks with City, and then with the player, to discuss the future of the England midfielder. Foden was recently left out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad, a decision that caused surprise in England.
Foden’s career
Six Premier League titles, four League Cups, two Community Shields, one Champions League and 49 England caps: Foden remains one of the finest players in English football. Born in Stockport in May 2000, the 26-year-old has spent his entire career at City, having joined the club at the age of nine. Valued at around €70m, although his price is expected to fall as he enters the final year of his contract, Foden would be preparing to leave Manchester City for the first time in his career.
