Bayer Leverkusen acquire Odilon Kossounou
As anticipated by multiple sources on Wednesday, Bayer Leverkusen have officially closed the deal that will see Odilon Kossonou don the club's colors.
The Bundesliga side announced their new acquisition through a Twitter post on their account. The Ivorian signed a 5-year contract that will tie him to Leverkusen until 2026. Although financial details of the deal were not officially disclosed, it is believed Bayer will pay Club Brugge a fee nearing 30M Euros fo the defender.
Kossounou had been targeted by multiple clubs in this transfer window, especially in the Premier League such as Brighton, Wolverhampton and Southampton but the German club were able to beat the competition with an near-irrefutable offer to Brugge.
Kossonou played in 28 matches last season for the Belgian club, scoring one goal and he was a vital cog in the team's defensive strength that helped them win the league in a comfortable manner.
