As reported by British sports outlet Sky Sports, Everton are making an addition to their goalkeeper roster, as they officially signed Asmir Begovic from Bournemouth.

Begovic joins the toffees on a one-year deal, with a club option for a second. The 34-year old is an experienced goalkeeper who is sure to bring security to Everton's defence. He was with Bournemouth for four seasons, although he only spent two years at the club, appearing in 107 matches across all competitions. In fact, these last two seasons, Begovic was on loan at Qarabag first and last year he spent it at Milan, playing in a reserve role for the rossoneri, behind Donnarumma and Tatarusanu.

The Bosnian international now hopes to compete for the starting spot at Everton with English folk hero Jordan Pickford, who shined at Euro 2020. His first words as an Everton player were: "When I first heard of the possibility of joining Everton, I was really excited...Opportunities like this don't come around every day so I'm honored and pleased to be here. The ambition is to get this club to where it belongs. We want to be challenging for those European spots, challenging for trophies and being in that upper echelon of the league"
