As announced on the club's Twitter account, Tottenham confirmed earlier today they were parting ways with veteran center-back Toby Alderweireld, after six years at the club.

Alderweireld will now be headed to Qatari club Al-Duahil SC, for a fee rumored to be around 13M Euros. The Belgian played 236 matches across all competitions for Spurs, and his departure comes on the heel of Erik Lamela also leaving the club for Sevilla. The player seems to be yet another casualty in Sporting Director Fabio Paratici and new manager Nuno Espirito Santo's efforts to reshape Spurs ahead of the new campaign. Tottenham has already brough in goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta and signed South Korean standout Son to a 4-year contract extension.

Alderweireld first joined Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in 2015, and reached a Champions League final in 2019 while at the club. The defender will now play his football in Qatar, probably a sign that he is on the tail-end of his career.
