Fresh from having achieved Euro 2020 victory as a key player for Italy, 30-year old winger and forward and Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne is yet to agree a new contract with Partenopei. Only on a deal with Naples-based club until June 2022 to date, "The Magnificent" (as nicknamed after Renaissance key historical figure Lorenzo De' Medici) might end up being on his way out, though rather unexpectedly, out of a lack of long-term plan shared with the club.

To this end, according to Southern Italian source Il Mattino, Lazio might get quite surprisingly after him. Now trained by Maurizio Sarri, the manager under whom Insigne rose into greatness and excellence, Rome-based club would actually be on the run to snatch such a prominent figure from a blatant rival side.

Playing for Napoli first team since 2012/13, Insigne, throughout his whole course with the club, has so far capped 397 times, scoring 109 goals therein, and delivering a massive amount of assists and pivotal passes. As an Azzurri player, he won Coppa Italia twice (2013/14 and 2019/20), with an Italian Supercup on top of that, back in 2014.

Yet to win a Serie A national title, Insigne ended up settling with a runner-up ranking position as much as four times (2012/13, 2015/16, 2017/18, 2018/19). Besides, he was previously inquired about by a bunch more prominent clubs all around Europe, including Barcelona FC, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Inter. To date, according to Transfermarkt.de, he's worth 48 million euros.
