Signed by Barcelona FC in late August, on a loan spell, from Sevilla FC, out of Ronald Koeman's will, 31-year old Dutch international striker Luuk De Jong, might be leaving Blaugrana already, now that Xavi has been appointed new first-team manager, since little game time is meant to be saved for him. To this end, according to Marca, Rojiblancos are planning to try bringing him back in January, out of Munir El Haddadi taking part into CAF Africa Cup of Nations and Youssef En-Nesyri's facing injury by injury.

Still on a parent-club deal with Andalusian side until June 2023, De Jong, a De Graafschap alumni, used to play also for PSV Eindhoven, Borussia Monchengladbach, Newcastle, and Twente.
