Ariel Holan, the new manager of Club León, has had an immediate effect.

The 61-year-old Argentine led his Liga MX team to a Leagues Cup championship in the middle of his debut season, defeating the Seattle Sounders 3-2 in the final on Wednesday night.

The outcome marks a watershed event in León's career. They've finally won their first-ever international title after failing to find success outside of local tournaments, including knockout round losses in the Concacaf Champions League to LAFC in 2020 and Toronto FC in 2021.

“The team has made a great effort,” said a quietly content Holan during his post-game press conference. “We got a historic achievement for the club.”
