The New England Revolution have won the Supporters' Shield for the first time in its 26-year history as an MLS original.

After the Seattle Sounders, who needed a win to keep the Shield competition alive, lost 2-1 to Sporting Kansas City at Lumen Field on Saturday, the Revs were crowned regular-season champions.

Since Arena took over as head coach and sporting director in May 2019, when the Revs were in last place in the Eastern Conference, the team has gone from strength to strength.

Arena now has a record four Supporters' Shields as a coach, breaking a tie with the late great Sigi Schmid, after earlier victories with D.C. United and the LA Galaxy (x2).

New England has secured a spot in the 2022 Concacaf Champions League as a result of their Supporters' Shield victory, as well as home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, including MLS Cup on Dec. 11 if they make it that far.
