Kevin Gilmore, president, and CEO of CF Montréal, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, the team announced Tuesday. Gilmore will work as a consultant for the organization through the end of the 2021 season.

Gilmore joined the team before the start of the 2019 season. Gilmore oversaw the hiring of new sporting director Olivier Renard as well as a brand change from the Montréal Impact to CF Montréal during his stay at Montréal.

In 2020, the club survived the COVID-19 pandemic and advanced to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. They're still in contention this year.

“The last 18 months have been very challenging on both the pandemic front and the club front, and very difficult on a personal level for me and my family," Gilmore said in a club statement. "Ultimately, these cumulative factors led to my decision to leave the organization. I’m grateful for my time with CF Montréal and thank the owners, the board and the team for the opportunity to work with them.”
