MLS - Chicago Fire dismisses coach Raphael Wicky
Raphael Wicky has to look for a new employer. As the MLS club Chicago Fire officially confirmed, the Swiss head coach was relieved of his duties. The 44-year-old has been on the sidelines at Lake Michigan since December 2019.
He became first-team manager on 21 April 2017, replacing Urs Fischer after a boardroom change.[16] Days later, the team wrapped up an eighth consecutive league title, and on 25 May won the Swiss Cup with a 3–0 victory over FC Sion at the Stade de Geneve.
After various coaching positions at FC Basel, Wicky had turned his back on Europe two and a half years ago and initially hired as a coach for the US U17 national team. After seven international matches, the former Bundesliga professional from Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV went to Chicago.
The Club has parted ways with head coach Raphael Wicky.
